You are never too old to start something that you are passionate about. If you have an excellent degree in science or engineering, then simply apply.

When does your graduate recruitment start? Is it once a year?

Yes, once a year. Applications for our training programme open mid-September for roughly two months. During that period we go on campus to talk about Kilburn & Strode and answer any questions candidates may have. Our selection process then takes place over December-January. Be sure to check on our website for more details at www.kilburnstrode.com

I graduated with a 2:2. Will you still consider my application?

Sadly not. The reason for this is that the exam pathway that you need to take to become a fully qualified patent attorney is not easy. Your degree is one way of telling us if you can handle the tough exams you need to sit.

What types of questions or tests can an applicant expect if they were to get through to the interview stage?

We want people to be themselves when we interview so we do ask about how they do things as much as what they know. Writing is really important to your success so we test that too. We want to know what makes you tick.

What prior knowledge of the field is required outside of your degree?

Applying for any job, it’s so important to know what you are potentially getting into. So research and understand the industry – show us that you are keen by attending workshops or talks at university.
