  • Job Type: Graduate Job
  • Profession: Investment Banking
  • Start Date: Unspecified
  • Location: London
  • UCAS Points: UK Operational Leadership Programme
  • Salary: Competitive
  • Degree Required: 2:1

A two-year programme designed to provide graduates interested in project management and or operations with a fast track to a leadership career in Operations, Technology and Services with a leading global bank. You will develop valuable business analysis and project management skills and, on completion, you will progress quickly into your first management role within one of our Operational functions, such as Technology, Service Delivery, Procurement, or even Corporate Real Estate.

Over the course of the programme, you will gain experience of how HSBC’s back office functions support our UK business. Through four six-month placements, you will learn about our complex operational functions.

Initially, you’ll gain experience of the ‘frontline’, perhaps in a Retail branch, to fully understand the impact that implementing improvements has on customers and stakeholders in our business. You will then be provided with exposure to project methodologies, as well as planning and implementing a business change. During your third placement you will gain an understanding of longer-term strategic planning and direction. In your final placement, you will have the responsibility of leading a team to deliver a process, change or service.

You will receive intensive on-the-job training, as well as formal training courses; you will learn how to apply your leadership and analytical skills to drive business improvements.

Your development will include a residential induction course at one of our training centres and specialist project management training. In addition, you will be given a personal buddy/mentor and support of a dedicated Graduate Development Manager. Regular events will help you build a vital network of business contacts and additional projects could include community action initiatives, fundraising and planning promotional events.

To join us, you will need at least a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent (predicted or gained in any discipline), and a grade A or higher in GCSE Maths and English.
