This 10-week internship offers penultimate-year degree students a thorough insight into one of the world’s leading securities services providers. It will help you to develop the skills, experience and network necessary for a successful international career in investment banking.
What to expect
HSBC Securities Services provides asset and portfolio services to corporate, institutional and government investors and issuers worldwide.
After a week of induction, you’ll complete a nine-week placement which will build your expertise in one of the following areas: custody services, investment operations, fund administration, middle office services, corporate trust or loan agency. You’ll gain experience of projects and client exposure, and have the chance to learn more about products and services across HSBC Securities Services.

Your induction programme will help you to understand HSBC’s strategy, culture and values, and how each function operates and what its business impact is. Structured training will help you to become familiar with relevant products, systems and customers, and increase your knowledge of the HSBC Securities Services business, our regulatory environment and changes in the financial markets.
At the beginning of your internship, you’ll be set measurable objectives and receive feedback throughout the 10 weeks. There will be many people to offer you support. Your manager will be able to give you guidance on your career options. You’ll be assigned a mentor who will help you to get the most out of the experience, and a buddy to share ideas with and call on for advice. There will be regular business and social events to attend so you can build a network of global contacts, which will prove invaluable to you in the future.
