In Internal Audit, our job is to keep the bank and our customers safe. We help our colleagues put the right controls in place. We are independent – we call out the risks by asking tough questions and we challenge everything.

What you can expect

By joining us as a trainee in Internal Audit, you will stretch your analytical ability and your understanding of our risk management and control framework. As you work with experienced auditors on completing audit engagements, you’ll liaise with senior stakeholders in the business areas you are auditing, providing you with significant experience and exposure within the bank as a result.

You will be involved in a range of activities throughout the audit life cycle on a day to day basis, from supporting the development of the audit plan, completing audits and aiding in the production of reports and recommendations to your stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

We need people with strong analytical and communication skills. You’ll need to have the potential to build relationships at all levels and be willing to challenge, innovate and make a real difference as you develop your knowledge of how our business works.

Whatever your degree discipline, we ask all our graduates to have a minimum 2:1, while a minimum of 320 UCAS points is also essential.

Graduate trainee development

You’ll learn by working alongside experienced auditors and benefiting from dedicated managerial guidance through the programme. Your specialist development will see you work in an Audit team in London or Edinburgh, specialising in; Personal & Business Banking, Commercial & Private Banking, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Prudential Risk, Conduct Risk, Services or Functions and CRG. You will also study for a professional qualification such as; ICAEW, ICAS or a Masters in Cyber Security, paving the way for you to become a respected and experienced professional at the end of the programme.
