This programme offers final-year degree and Masters students and recent graduates a detailed understanding of what it takes to manage relationships with our high-net-worth clients or deliver the products that meet their financial aspirations. It’s the ideal platform to develop a long-term international career in Global Private Banking.

What to expect

Before starting on the Global Private Banking programme, you will join the Global Analyst Induction Programme in September 2016, with colleagues from around the world who have joined one of our other global business graduate programmes.

You’ll join a team providing wealth management advice and tailored investment solutions to help our high-net-worth clients and their families grow, manage and preserve their wealth. Three placements, each lasting six months, will give you wide exposure to our business.

You’ll learn how to build relationships with our clients, understand their circumstances and create a wealth management strategy that meets their financial goals. You’ll develop the expertise to advise clients on the most appropriate investment products, and how best to invest private client funds. You’ll gain the knowledge to advise business owners on their finances, taking into account issues such as succession planning and charitable activities.

Throughout, you’ll build detailed knowledge of our investment products and services, which extend across all asset classes. We work in close partnership with Commercial Banking and our other global businesses, and you’ll see how we aim to provide the best of HSBC to our high-net-worth clients.

Wherever you join us, we will support, guide and develop you, while our leaders will help you to be the best you can be, reflecting your interests and capabilities.

Learning, development and support

We’re looking for the future leaders of Global Private Banking. Forward-thinking, driven, perceptive students and graduates who enjoy being part of a team and are excited by new ideas. People who are dependable and open to different cultures.

The graduate induction explains the bank and the role of Global Private Banking. During your rotations, you’ll benefit from a training programme that includes regular access to coaching and advice on your progress, as well as frequent and constructive feedback on your performance. Valuable, hands-on coaching and experience will develop your technical and behavioural skills, enabling you to take advantage of the exceptional global opportunities we offer. We will provide everything you need to move up, although you will drive your own development.

There will be plenty of people around to support you. You’ll be assigned a mentor and buddy, who will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and provide a sounding-board for your ideas. There will be many opportunities to develop your network of contacts, within Global Private Banking and beyond, which you will be able to tap into as your career at HSBC unfolds. You’ll also be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives, which will help you to develop new skills and become a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which we work.

Potential career paths

The Global Private Banking Global Graduate Programme is the beginning of an exciting journey in international banking. On completion of the programme, you’ll continue learning about interaction with clients as a relationship manager or improve your understanding of the investment world as a product specialist.

What you’ll need

To be considered for the programme, you will be a student or graduate from any discipline who:

  • Demonstrates our values – open, dependable and connected – in your daily work
  • Is interested in, and understands, international markets and finance
