Risk at ICAP

Risk Management aspires to be a value added but independent partner to ICAP’s businesses by setting risk management policies, providing appropriate tools and methods, advising and challenging objectively, and playing a proactive role in the strategic decision making process.

The mission of Risk Management is to support ICAP and all of its component businesses and functions globally in meeting their strategic, financial, and other objectives by:

  • Setting policies and standards, providing tools and methods, to identify, measure, mitigate, control and report on risks that could impede the achievement of these objectives;
  • Exerting independent oversight of the firm’s adherence with risk management policies and standards;
  • Providing risk management advice and expertise to the firm; and
  • Providing executive management and the Board with an independent assessment of risk exposures in the context of the firm’s risk appetite.

ICAP recognises 8 types of risk (offering both threats and opportunities; Legal and Regulatory; Strategic; Reputational; Operational; Credit; Liquidity; Financial; and Market.
