In Finance, we provide the right information to help our colleagues make good decisions about customers, costs and capital. Our job is to help the bank make, spend and invest money wisely.

As a graduate trainee, you will get to move between different areas of Finance, providing an environment where you will learn and develop, gaining experience across a range of specialist areas – you could be producing key documentation for regulatory or management reporting, or providing financial or commercial insight to business executives. The business areas work across all of the divisions, and the team is massively varied. It provides you with a great opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills in addition to providing key documentation such as preparing accounts for the bank and providing commercial insight. You will help the business to provide strategic plans & analytical reviews, budget & forecast, monitor liquidity across the bank, stress testing and manage risk.
Who we are looking for
We welcome applications from all degree disciplines. Whatever your academic background, you must be proactive and driven, with strong numerical, analytical, team-working and client-facing skills. The flexibility to work in a number of locations is essential.
Whatever your degree discipline, we ask all our graduates to have a minimum 2:1. We will also consider your top three A-level (or equivalent) grades from the first sitting (excluding General Studies) and look for a minimum of 300 UCAS points.
Graduate trainee development
Over three years, you will experience placements in a variety of our Finance teams to learn the full scope of what we do throughout RBS. The Finance Graduate Programme is UK wide and you will be required to undertake rotating placements across the various Finance locations. Typically these are Edinburgh and London. We will make sure you have all the support you need as you study for your CIMA or ICAS qualification. The qualifications are globally renowned and recognised across the industry, once passed achieving chartered status. Work hard and perform well, and by the end of the programme you can expect to be a fully qualified finance professional ready to tackle your first management position.
