Make a difference at Mazars
From the first day you arrive at Mazars, you will be welcomed with rewarding work, an excellent client list and supportive colleagues – all the crucial ingredients you need to inspire and educate you as you study for your qualification.

An overview of the role
Your first year will be spent learning about the role of an external auditor and the fundamental part they play in the successful management of any organisation. You will have the opportunity to explore and understand the intricacies of how different organisations function effectively, across a wide range of industry sectors including Aerospace and Defence, Construction, Mining and Exploration and Technology, Media and Telecommunications.

The London Industry and Commerce team has a diverse range of clients which will allow you to varied and exciting experience. Our clients include large corporations and global organisations; that allows us to work with our international colleagues. Our owner managed clients will give you the insight into how successful organisations operate and the key decisions management undertake on a daily basis.

As an External Audit trainee, you will be involved in providing independent, third party reviews of the financial records of clients. You will be required to provide an accurate, unbiased analysis of the company’s financial condition, making a fair and equitable approach essential. You will also have the opportunity to establish effective working relationships based on mutual trust and respect with key players within a company, including management, non-executive directors and other advisers.

Your day to day work will include assisting with all aspects of conducting a successful client audit, and your role and responsibilities will change naturally as you progress through the firm. You will work in client audit teams that will allow you to learn and develop from your peers, managers and partners within the Industry and Commerce team.

In due course your main responsibilities will involve supporting various audit teams with conducting a comprehensive service to clients. As you progress through your training contract your responsibilities within a client audit team will grow. You will be given the support and skills required to be able to effectively project manage an entire audit to ensure delivery to agreed timescales and completion deadlines, whilst maintaining standards and procedures throughout.

As your training contract progresses you will become more familiar with the different nature of business across a range of sectors, understanding the key disparities that an external auditor must be aware of to perform their role effectively. You will also be able to demonstrate and apply technical, commercial, and industry knowledge, taking a pro-active approach to identify client issues and propose solutions.

A role with Mazars will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to help you achieve your full potential, providing a truly rewarding start to your career with the opportunity to work in other departments post qualification, as well as the opportunity to travel internationally.

How we will support you
We will fund you to study towards the ACA (Association Chartered Accountants) qualification.

You will spend time away from the office to attend classes for tuition and revision stages of each exam. The classroom taught approach means that you will have the support of your peers and valuable study time for your exams.

We also operate a number of in-house training courses which will give you technical insight to assist you to keep up with changes in legislation and case law, both in the UK and worldwide.
