About us

We are AXA, the number one global insurance brand (as ranked by Interbrand 2015, for the seventh year running) and a world leader in asset management.

We are constantly transforming our business so that we can protect people better. But to make change happen, to keep moving forwards, we need graduates with drive and ambition. Graduates who want to put their ideas and creative thinking into practice. Graduates who are determined to Challenge Everything and become future leaders at AXA.

Data Science Graduate Programme

We’re already the number one global insurance brand and a world leader in asset management, but we have some very big ambitions. Especially around technology. From Big Data to mobile services, we’re thinking and acting far beyond what you might expect, always looking for new ways to use technology to make us better, stronger and more responsive to our customers and their needs. As a Data Scientist, you’ll be front and centre of the AXA business, exploring our huge data sources to find new insights and predict future outcomes, while simultaneously developing your knowledge and skill-sets.

You’ll work across AXA UK, playing an integral part in enabling the future strategy with data at the forefront of our business. You’ll ask and answer some big questions: Are we using our customers’ data ethically and effectively? Is there a more innovative way to generate meaningful, actionable insight? Working closely with business and IT teams, you’ll analyse large data sets and test out hypotheses. You’ll carry out modelling using advanced statistical/mathematical software and techniques, and predict customer outcomes to generate business value. And, vitally, you’ll effectively communicate your findings to both business and technical audiences within AXA.

 Who should apply?

Like us, you’re excited by the possibilities and opportunities that Big Data brings. Analytical and thorough, you have a strong passion for research and for answering tough questions with hard facts. What’s more, you can turn complex quantitative analysis into clear and precise actions. You’ll have a deep interest and a good understanding of current and emerging trends with data, data analytics and big data. You’ll also be up-to-speed with scalable data mining and machine learning techniques, statistical relational learning and data technologies and languages. We’d like you to have worked with large data sets and distributed computing tools like MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc. Ideally, you will hold an MSc or PhD in Data Science or an analytical subject (Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science) or other quantitative discipline.
