The Punter Southall Group has recently formed a new business, Punter Southall Analytics Ltd, which will further broaden the scope of our financial advisory activities, specifically into the payments industry.

We are currently looking to recruit an intelligent, motivated and creative Data Analyst to support the founding team of experienced consultants.

What will you do

Working closely with the Head of Analytics or Managing Director, the successful individual will perform a wide ranging data analytical activities including:

  • Ensuring the accuracy of large datasets that we receive from clients and their processing partners.
  • Preparing and analysing data in support of two core services: cost optimisation and litigation support.
  • Providing concise data reports for management, typically delivered as accurate, well-structured, annotated Excel spreadsheets.
  • Producing clear data representations (PowerPoint) and providing input into presentations (in Word).

What we need from you

To be successful, you need to be able to display the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven analytical capability, seeing through the data to derive conclusions, is essential.
  • Strong academic performance, a minimum of 360 UCAS points gained at A Level or equivalent qualifications, together with a degree qualification of a minimum of 2:1. Educated to Masters Level would be advantageous.
  • We are particularly interested in science graduates, especially those experienced with large datasets and relevant analytical and data software packages (e.g. SQL, SAS, SPSS).
  • Advanced Level Microsoft Excel skills are a must.
  • Additional IT skills and experience that allows us to efficiently scale the business and operations (e.g. scripting) are an advantage, as is knowledge of Microsoft applications, networks and database technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; candidates must be able to extract valuable information from datasets and present findings in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the willingness and energy to work flexibly as priorities shift, both in the office and remotely (i.e. at home or on-site with a client).
  • The ability to adhere to robust processes that are already in place, and actively contribute to the implementation of improvements.
