If you’re creative, a great problem solver and have a determined approach to everything you do, come and join our Credit Risk internship. Our internship programme has been designed to develop dynamic and proactive credit risk talent. All we ask is that you’re in penultimate year of your degree, and we’ll give you the support you need to shape your future.
Lending is one of the most important things we do. Whether it’s to homebuyers or small businesses, start-ups or large enterprises, lending plays an essential role in powering economic growth. In Credit Risk, we provide an effective risk framework and oversight to make sure that our colleagues make the right decisions: for our customers, and for our own safety.
What can you expect?
We’re the largest area in the Risk function, with around 1,000 colleagues based mostly in the UK and Western Europe. Our teams work closely with our customer facing businesses and other areas of Risk in managing credit risk on both a case-by-case basis, and on a portfolio wide level. We set the policies which govern how we lend, and recommend the bank’s risk appetite.
Our structured internship will give you the chance to be involved in projects which improve the strategies and systems which manage decisions throughout the credit risk life cycle. You’ll be contributing important ideas and analysis which makes a genuine impact on what we do, and how we serve our customers. And you’ll get a real insight into the skills and behaviours you’ll need to build a successful credit risk career.
Who we’re looking for
We believe that great credit risk professionals share a number of key traits and behaviours, which we’ll be selecting for throughout the selection process. We’ll be looking for intellectual curiosity and an independent mind set. We’ll be looking for a creative approach to problem solving, and for a positive and determined attitude. And because it’s a commitment that goes to the core of who we are as a bank, we’ll be looking for a keen focus on customers.
We welcome applications to our internship programme whatever degree subject you’re studying.
