This 10-week internship offers penultimate-year degree students the opportunity to gain an insight into one of our product areas, with a view to developing a successful international career as a specialist within Capital Financing.

What to expect

The internship offers the opportunity to join a team in one of the following products areas: asset finance; debt capital markets; equity capital markets; leveraged and acquisition finance; mergers and acquisitions; or project and export finance.

After your induction, you’ll complete a nine-week placement which will give you a thorough understanding of your product area, our markets and customers across a range of geographies and industries. This experience will give you the opportunity to develop your technical, analytical and interpersonal skills. Depending on your area, you can also expect to be working on projects or complex, high-profile transactions.

Learning, development and support

After a one-week induction, your placement will provide you with a combination of practical experience and classroom training. Depending on your product area, this could enhance your technical knowledge and IT skills.

At the beginning of your internship, you’ll be set measurable objectives and you’ll receive feedback throughout the 10 weeks. There will be many people who can offer support. Your manager will be able to give you guidance on your career options. You’ll be assigned a mentor who will help you to get the most out of the experience, and a buddy to share ideas with and call on for advice. There will be regular business and social events to attend so you can build a network of global contacts, which will prove invaluable to you in the future.

You can also take part in our sustainability initiatives, which will help you become a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which we work.
