Developing cutting-edge technology is integral to our success. As we process deals, transfer information, analyse data and communicate with clients across time zones and continents, we need to constantly evolve to become quicker and more efficient. We operate in a fiercely competitive arena, and our technology strategy is entirely business driven.
With a career in Technology at Barclays, you’ll be working among some of the best IT professionals in our industry, while working in a high-speed setting that constantly invites fresh thinking. As the largest division of our global organisation, our Technology team will challenge you to partner with business leaders who depend on your input for success every day. You may create and maintain powerful trading systems, design award winning e-commerce platforms, support new products and enhance decision-making across the business. You may even be part of a team that develops, tests and deploys innovative software. Technology isn’t just a function at Barclays ; it’s a critical driver.
Our Technology programme spans the Corporate and Investment Banking and Wealth and Investment Management (CIBWIM). Roles available within Technology are:
• Application developers – analysing, designing, building and testing software and systems that support all areas of activity
• Application management – deployment and support of software and systems globally; including change and release, capacity management, monitoring, upgrades, technical refresh and disaster recovery
• Business analysts – involved in driving Technology initiatives through the entire project lifecycle – from scoping and feasibility studies to detailed design, testing and implementation. Business analysts can expect to get involved in the planning and coordination, budgeting, analysis and communications required to deliver Technology solutions effectively.
Technology graduates will complete 2 x 6 month rotations within an Application Development, Application Management or a Business Analyst role.
If you have an interest in finance, plus a degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Chemistry or an engineering-related subject, this is an area of our organisation where you can really make your mark. Apart from technical knowledge, the technology role demands a strong sense of initiative and the ability to prioritise workloads.
