We offer the opportunity for students to visit our offices and learn more about life as a Patent Attorney by attending one of our open days.
The aim of the open day is to give you an idea of what the job involves on a day to day basis. The day includes a series of talks and practical exercises. These cover topics such as patent drafting, patent prosecution and managing the workload.
We try to include plenty of opportunity to talk to people with varying levels of experience of the job. Therefore, the sessions will be run by partners in the firm, by qualified patent attorneys and by trainees who have only been with us for a year or two. We also have a lunchtime buffet where you get the chance to meet some of the other members of the firm.
The days are directed to those who have a real interest in the patent profession, and who are likely to meet our recruitment requirements (set out in more detail in the e-brochure). Given the limited number of places available, we prefer to offer places to those who will be in a position to apply for our 2014 vacancies. On each open day we also reserve five places for anyone with a background in engineering or physics.
We hope that participation in the day will give you a much clearer idea of what working as a Patent Attorney is all about, and help you determine whether or not this is the career path for you.
