A new survey found that 51% of employees under 30 are contemplating changing their current career, less than two years after starting it.

Supermarket chain Aldi interviewed both graduates and school leavers for the study, which sought to probe the reasons behind career changes.

Among the graduates who were thinking about changing their career direction, 40% were actively employed in jobs directly related to their university disciplines.

The study further reported that 40% of those graduates currently considering new careers had joined a graduate programme.

Dissatisfaction with the lack of clear progression prospects resulted in many graduates to consider taking a job in an entirely different sector, even if it meant starting in a more junior role.
