Santander UK is trebling its efforts to encourage students to consider working for small and medium sized enterprises.
The Spanish lender will help fund up to 1,500 internships to help smaller companies attract graduate-calibre employees.
Santander will pay half of each graduates’ £1,000-a-month salary, helping small businesses recruit and train staff that might ordinarily prove too expensive.
Ana Botin, Sanatander’s chief executive, said: ‘By increasing the number of internship places from 500 last year to 1,500 in the coming year, we will provide SMEs with some of the country’s brightest and most highly skilled students and graduates.’
Many of the internships and graduate jobs that can be found on Inside Careers are with SMEs. One such example is SWAT UK, which specialises in placing graduates into accountancy jobs with smaller London-based accountancy firms.
