A new course that kick-starts finance careers in the City begins at east London’s largest further education college next month.

Newham College students can start the CISI’s new Fundamentals of Financial Services course on Tuesday 5 November 2013.

The course covers issues such as calculating interest rates, advantages and disadvantages in bond investments, links between savers and borrowers and finance terminology.

CISI designed the Level 2 qualification as a first step in developing basic knowledge needed to work in the financial markets industry.

Ruth Martin, Managing Director for CISI said: ‘The CISI is committed to equipping talented people to enter the financial services industry. The Fundamentals course can be the starting point.

‘We are particularly excited that Newham College, so close to the City and Canary Wharf, is offering this programme.

‘We look forward to working with them to ensure that it is a great success.’

The 12-week, evening course will be open to existing Newham College students and the general public.

The College is offering the course as a standalone qualification and also part of a set of other commercial programmes. It carries eight credits on the Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF).
