A programme to facilitate social mobility within the UK’s internship culture was launched last week.
The Whitehall Internship Scheme 2013 is designed to improve the employability of 100 disadvantaged 16- to 17-year-olds, giving them structured work experience placements across the Civil Service.
Now in its third year, the internship programme run by the Social Mobility Foundation has specific entry requirements to promote ethnic diversity.
Applicants must come from an ethnic minority background, have five As at GCSE, be on course for at least 320 UCAS points at A-level and be the first generation in their family to attend university.
