Advertising agency BBDO have developed a new concept of advertising on behalf of Sky Deutschland.

The idea would be to use bone conduction technology to transmit sounds into train users heads when they lean against the train window.

Bone conduction is a technique whereby sound is transmitted into the inner ear by passing vibrations through the skull. The technology is currently used in hearing aids and headphones for swimmers or runners.

The Talking Window campaign was displayed at the International Festival of Creativity in Cannes last month. The audio is created by special branded transmitters which attach to windows. These create the vibrations that mean the sound will appear to come from inside the user’s head.

The concept is based on the idea that tired or bored commuters often rest their heads against the window while travelling. Sky Deutschland have yet to decide whether they will go ahead with the new medium.
