A new report from KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has found that there was an increase in UK jobs during May 2013, reaching a six month high.
REC’s monthly ‘Report on Jobs’ is widely considered the most authoritative research in the recruitment industry, drawing its figures from agencies across the UK.
It found that demand for IT and engineering graduates continues to grow, confirming recent predictions surrounding the vitality of STEM degrees in the graduate jobs market.
Kevin Green, REC Chief Executive, said: ‘Recruiters tell us that employers are more optimistic and are planning to increase their temporary and permanent hiring. This is supported by the expansion of job vacancies and a slight increase in starting salaries.’
