Technology skills body e-skills UK has created 313 IT apprenticeships since October 2012, and looks to create a further 250 by the end of 2013.

Partnering with the National Skills Academy for IT, training provider NTIP and telecoms giant BT, e-skills UK has set up 282 IT apprenticeships in small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The IT Gold Standard Apprenticeship programme is designed to help young people gain the necessary skills for certain in-demand IT job roles.

Karen Price, CEO of e-skills UK, said: ‘Ensuring that apprenticeship training is high quality and relevant to IT employers’ needs is vital to increasing their uptake, particularly among SMEs. That’s exactly what we’re doing through this partnership.’
