A new survey reports that the UK’s financial services sector took on new staff in the first quarter of 2013, with more employment gains expected.

The survey from PwC and the CBI employer’s lobby found that employment grew by 2,000 in the period, marking the second straight quarter of growth.

The same number of new jobs is predicted for this quarter.

Steve Davies, a partner at PwC, said: ‘The banks’ return to confidence continues, although the improvement is less marked than in the previous quarter.’

‘Business is expected to improve across retail, commercial and financial segments and headcount has begun to grow again,’ he added.
