Over half of the UK’s young people say they would be interested in working in the green sector, but many feel like they don’t have the skills necessary to secure such a job.

Research by British Gas found that one-quarter of people do not believe there are enough training and career development opportunities to help develop skills they can use throughout their working life.

78% of young people in the UK say they recognise the importance of the green economy to the growth of the UK for at least the next ten years.

Many view the green sector as a way of securing long-term employment. Job opportunities within the sector are increasing steadily with the Green Deal alone expected to create 250,000 green jobs by 2030.

The Green Deal is a government initiative for homeowners and businesses to make energy saving improvements without having to pay costs upfront.
