The government is encouraging SMEs to provide evidence in advance of the publication of its Information Economy Strategy in May 2013.

The centrepiece of the strategy is the promotion of the ‘information economy’, defined as: ‘Digital technologies and information combining to drive productivity and create new growth opportunities across the whole economy.’

As the use of digital technology increases in all sectors, advances in the IT sector will afford commercial opportunities across the whole economy.

The strategy aims to provide a sketch of the current state of the information economy, and a prediction for where it is headed.
