Global bank, HSBC has been recognised by IFS School of Finance’s Annual Financial World Innovation Awards for its work experience scheme.
HSBC was the first major bank in the UK to launch apprenticeships in the UK. They currently run a work experience programme for 14-18 year olds and are registered with 3,500 schools and colleges throughout the UK. The one-week programme is an opportunity for those interested in a career in financial services to find out what it is all about and is linked to the companies recruitment scheme.
John Morewood, Senior Specialist in Emerging Talent at HSBC says: “The scheme aims to engage school pupils to give them an experience of what banking is like, give them the opportunity to realise that they may not have to go to university in order to have a good career in the bank, and that they can still gain a professional qualification, following an apprenticeship with us.”
