A new contract has been signed by Morrisons with supply chain and logistics giant Norbert Dentressangle.

The two-year deal comes following a competitive tender process that saw the supermarket retailer renew its agreement with Dentressangle. Under the terms of the pact, the logistics firm will serve 482 Morrisons UK stores and eight major distribution centres, including temperature-controlled facilities and a 575,000 sq ft site at Bellshill on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK will continue to assume responsibility for the management and handling of an array of products such as ambient groceries, bread, frozen food and fresh goods. More than 1,000 people are employed by Dentressangle on the Morrisons contract.

Commenting on the deal, Morrisons distribution director Chris Noone said Dentressangle has ‘been able to demonstrate that we can continue to receive excellent service levels and measurable cost savings.’

Norbert Dentressangle recently announced plans to invest millions in expanding and upgrading its Euroterminal site on Manchester & Trafford Park in order to create the safest and most modern top tier Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 1999 (COMAH) warehouses in the UK.
