A 900kg science lab has touched down Mars following a risky descent following a 352 million mile journey.
Curiosity Rover was developed by NASA scientists to determine whether Mars has an environment that could support life.
Curiosity has already been linked up to computers on Earth and the first pictures have been transmitted through. While these pictures are small and are dominated by Curiosity’s shadow, they are a great achievement for those who have worked on the project for the last ten years.
See the Engadget gallery for the first pictures from Mars.
