Applications to PwC‘s school leaver schemes have increased five-fold since the start of the recession.

The number of pupils applying for one of 100 post A-level places at the company has risen from 417 in 2008 to 2,352 in 2012.

Gaenor Bagley, PwC’s Head of People has observed that the increase in tuition fees has resulted in school leavers considering alternative routes which provide them with the training they desire without going to university.
