Microsoft Corp. have today begun previews of its free web-based email portal today. The email system is grouped under their Outlook brand as it seeks to draw users away from Google’s Gmail.

General manager Brian Hall has announced that Hotmail will probably be phased out in the next year.

Hotmail is the world’s most popular web-based email provider but it has lost ground in the U.S to Google and Yahoo.
