A new charging scheme would give local generators credits for meeting peak needs in their neighbourhoods.

The new charging scheme which has been proposed by Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) could see the network costs for over 600 generators change.

In the new charging scheme, generators would benefit from credits – known as “Super-Red” credits – if they are able to help defer the costs of strengthening the network because they can be relied on to provide power to their neighbours at times of peak demand.

Find out more about the new charging scheme and how it will be regulated on Utility Week.
