After losing a recent a Court of Appeal ruling over the sale of Stansted airport, BAA have announced they will take no further action and proceed in selling the Essex airport.

The Competition Commission (CC) had originally ruled that BAA must sell Gatwick, Stansted and one of its Scottish airports following an inquiry into the company’s airport ownership.

Both Gatwick and Edinburgh have been sold to Global Infrastructure Partnerships (GIP).

The CC have said that they feel both passengers and airlines will benefit from the introduction of new ownership.
