From September, the first apprentices will join consultancy firms.
Traditionally a part of skilled manual career training, apprenticeships are becoming increasingly used in other sectors to provide university level training on the job.
PwC took on the challenge of bringing employers and trade bodies to develop a scheme that would take college students straight into work and on to jobs in professions including, management consultancy, tax and audit.
Apprentices will gain a recognised qualification alongside project based skills, business understanding and knowledge of the tools needed for improvement.
