Graduate Tax Assistant
The Job
Tax within RSM Tenon offers graduates an opportunity to gain specialist professional qualifications and skills through study and practical experience.
We offer the chance to study for the ATT exams, followed by the CTA or in some instances, the ACA qualification. Trainees will become fully ATT qualified once they have passed all exams and have two years practical work experience. Students will become fully CTA qualified once they pass all their exams and have three years practical work experience.
Trainees will be involved in compliance work and a range of personal tax duties from day one. After six months, trainees can expect an increase in their general responsibilities, which includes taking on a portfolio of clients. Once tax trainees have passed their ATT exams, they will most likely become a Tax Senior. The complexity of the work will increase and there will be an expectation to deal with more complicated taxation issues.
Within three years, tax trainees will be coming towards the end of their CTA studies, and will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of tax. This will be reflected in the complexity of their workload and increased responsibilities. Tax Seniors at this stage will be involved in reviewing the work of other staff, accountable for the more complicated tax clients and will have the opportunity to work on tax consultancy queries.
