Range of services
We cover all areas of intellectual property and a very wide range of technological subject matter, with the patent attorneys being broadly divided into a life sciences group and a technology and engineering group. A large proportion of our work is direct representation at the European Patent Office, and we have a permanent office in Munich, manned by one full-time partner. Other UK based partners and qualified assistants have the option (and are encouraged) to spend one or two weeks at a time working in the office in Munich.
We have a strong and expanding trade mark practice and were named the UK trade mark law firm of the year for 2010 in the Corporate INTL legal awards.
We pride ourselves on providing clear and concise advice to our clients, and all of our attorneys undertake specific training in the use of plain English.
Minimum academic requirements
A good scientific or technical degree, coupled with excellent command of the English language.
Annual leave entitlement
20 working days (in addition to bank holidays) increasing with length of service and/or examination success.
Professional development
Each trainee will work directly with a qualified attorney, whilst undertaking certain tasks for other partners and associates within the firm. There is a structured training programme operating within the firm, which has led to a high success rate in the examinations in recent years. The firm sends candidates on residential courses to prepare for the examinations, and encourages candidates to attend lectures given in central London.
