Employer Profile
Appleyard Lees is a leading UK firm with offices in Halifax, Leeds, Manchester and overseas. We assist businesses and research institutions in capturing and protecting their intellectual property rights (patents, designs, trade marks, copyright and know-how) and in developing practical, cost-effective plans to manage them effectively.
We work for companies from a wide range of industries including chemistry, life sciences, electronics, software and engineering. Our clients range from inventors, universities and SMEs to FTSE 100 companies operating in a wide range of technical disciplines.
In addition to our network of offices in the UK, Appleyard Lees is a partner of choice for fellow patent attorneys and in house lawyers all over the world to safeguard their clients’ interests and business activities in the UK and Europe. We work with some of the world’s largest household names in the global electronics, IT, polymer, retail and food manufacturing sectors.
Our global partnerships mean that we can offer protection to our clients who are looking to operate overseas. We spend a lot of time and energy creating and maintaining links with other attorney firms around the world, which provides a network of highly skilled patent and trade mark attorneys with expert local knowledge in each country.
Graduates
Graduates can expect a competitive salary, excellent training and support and immediate involvement in business development and great prospects for the future. There will also be some foreign travel requirements.
Training
Appleyard Lees organise regular small tutorials and larger presentations covering subjects such as patentability, the registration of trade marks, filing options and the like for a number of clients from both the public and private sectors. We also organise a series of seminars in the north of England for younger members of the IP professions so we ourselves are always up to date with the latest developments and can pass that knowledge on to our clients.
