Employer Profile
What do we do?
You might not be too familiar with our name, but Aon is an organisation of incredible size and scope. Our business is professional services; Aon provides leading organisations around the world with expert human resources and risk consulting. Following our acquisition of Hewitt Associates in 2010, Aon now employs 59,000 people worldwide who use their specialist knowledge and industry expertise to help our clients grow. Across the UK, we have 6,500 employees in 30 offices.
We believe the success of our business is down to the combination of the skills, knowledge and attitude of our people. Our philosophy is to employ people with the right skills, support them to develop, and enable them to find opportunities to best use their individual strengths and interests to help our clients.
Who do we take on?
Our UK Graduate Programme has been designed to identify and develop the future stars of our business. We want graduates who can demonstrate their enthusiasm and potential and are looking to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent.
We recruit graduates into five Streams. Depending on the area you join, you’ll be using your numeracy, analytical abilities and strong customer service skills to help clients address key questions that affect the running and growth of their businesses. How can risk be predicted and spread to minimise the impact of natural or man-made catastrophes? How can financial markets effectively manage their risks? Where can employers invest to improve the value of their pension schemes? Will a company be able to meet its pension obligations decades down the line? How can it provide a benefits programme that rewards employees and represents a shrewd business investment for the employer? Aon’s business is to provide the answers.
As well as graduate opportunities, we offer paid summer internships. Lasting 8 weeks during July and August, these provide a real feel for our corporate environment and the chance to gain valuable experience in the profession that’s of interest to you.
When can you expect real responsibility?
Early responsibility is a way of life at Aon. You’ll very quickly become a technical specialist in your particular area, meeting clients and advising them on our market-leading products far sooner than you would in many other organisations. Our training will fully equip you to make an immediate impact on our business. The core Graduate Programme will complement your Stream-specific training, helping you to build your business knowledge, develop professional skills and grow effective relationships with clients and colleagues. We also provide full study support for professional qualifications. All in all, everything is in place to help you forge a career in which challenges and rewards will come in equal measure.
