Trainee Patent Attorney

The Job

The work of a patent attorney is both exacting and stimulating requiring dedication to detail together with a good command of the English language. The job makes great use of your technical expertise keeping you at the forefront of technology. The opportunities and potential for both career and personal development are excellent.

We run a comprehensive in-house training programme supplemented with carefully chosen external training events. Our trainees work on real cases from day one, under the direction of our qualified attorneys, to work towards qualification as both a chartered and european patent attorney.

We will give structured support and every opportunity to the successful candidate to train towards qualification with a view to a long-term career at Scott & York, one of the UK's leading firms of Patent and Trade Mark attorneys.

The Person

We look for graduates with a first degree at 2:1 or higher, with Electronics and/or Computer Science specialisations, who would relish a challenge and want a stimulating and exciting career with a friendly and sociable firm in a fantastic location.

It is important you feel confident in communicating at all levels with both staff and clients and are able to work on your own initiative but also be comfortable working in a team.

We welcome applications from graduates who have an interest in the commercial world, a keen eye for detail and who possess excellent written and oral skills in English. If you are applying from outside the EU or are presently resident in the EU on a student visa or similar, please indicate in your application your eligibility for working in the UK.
