We have the biggest in-house IT team in the UK. Not surprisingly, the department has a number of different areas. And since you’ll move around them over the course of the programme, you’ll learn what makes each tick. In turn, the work will be hugely varied; giving you the opportunity to see what best suits your abilities and ambitions. And on top of developing your technical prowess, you’ll get to grips with how our business works, and pick up some valuable financial acumen along the way.
There are some huge projects going on right now. For example, we’re creating a new database that will hold all the details of millions of customers we’ve gained through acquiring different companies over recent years. No simple task when you consider the billions of pounds involved.
And even with so many talented professionals on board, we often work in collaboration with other organisations, for example IBM, Dell and Cable & Wireless, to ensure we have the best solutions available. For you, that equates to even more opportunities to develop your knowledge and experience.
By the time you’ve finished the two-year programme, you’ll be well on the way to making your name in a certain area. But, of course, that’s not to say you’ll be pigeonholed. With so many teams and projects at our global business, you’ll have lots of opportunities to move sideways as well as up.
What we look for in you.
You don’t need to be IT’s answer to Stephen Hawking. We’re looking for analytical and creative minds. People with a 2:1 degree in any discipline who can quickly take on information and use it to solve often-complex business challenges. Above that, it’s your ambition that’ll mark you out – and your personality.
