Chartered Insurance Institute Predicts Bright Future
Many will no doubt be reflecting on 2009 as a difficult year for the global economy, with even Dubai struggling to meet its obligations.
Rest assured that it’s not all bad news. Two professions have weathered the storms better than many, and offer fantastic opportunities if you are interested in the financial services sector, and helping people fulfil their ambitions.
The risk profession has been out of the spotlight this year, simply because it is acknowledged as being a well-run sector. Retail banking, compare and contrast. Nearly all the major risk employers continue to offer a graduate scheme and you can find many of these on this site or through the CII website. Some of them also offer summer placements, so take some time to check out what’s available.
What about financial planning? The FSA is due to report its final findings on its Retail Distribution Review and there will be good news for those seeking a career there after graduation. Many advisers will leave the profession by the end of 2012, opening opportunities for new talent to emerge from university. Truly a once in a generation event. Help people with their financial decisions and get handsomely rewarded yourself. Sounds good to us.
Finally, a little gift to you from the CII. When you finish your UK degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Law or Management, the CII will exempt you from exams in either risk or financial planning.
