About us
Mercer is a leading global provider of consulting, outsourcing and investment services. Operating in 41 countries, our 3,200 strong UK based team supports a huge variety of organisations, including some of the biggest multinational corporations. Working with over 60% of FTSE100 companies and a notable percentage of the Global Fortune 500, we help our clients engage with and reward their employees, manage risk, drive revenue growth and improve business processes. Along with our professional excellence, it’s the breadth and depth of our services that make us an industry recognised market leader.

Our roles:
Mercer offers a variety of different paths to becoming an actuary. You can choose to work within our Retirement, Risk and Finance division, focusing on the design, funding and administration of retirement plans. Or, as an investment analyst, within our Investment Consulting division, you could be drafting investment strategies, producing investment performance reports and assisting with fund manager selection.

Whatever path you choose to becoming an actuary, you’ll gain technical experience and credibility across a wide variety of projects, allowing you to excel in a client facing role in the future. Variety, challenge and personal development are why actuaries thrive at Mercer.

What you’ll need
To succeed, you must be highly perceptive, communicative, driven and organised. You’ll be looking to be challenged by genuine responsibility, intellectual stimulation and ever changing client priorities.

You’ll need at least 300 UCAS points with a minimum B grade in an A level numerical subject and a 2.1 honours degree in a numerical/semi-numerical degree or equivalent.

Training and development
As you study for the actuarial qualification, we’re here to support you. We’ll pay for your tuition fees and study materials and give you a generous study leave package.

Our 18 month graduate development programme has been designed to identify and build on your existing strengths and includes a comprehensive induction, an exploration of the consulting business environment and a focus on equipping you with a range of skills you need to become an exceptional consultant. Your development doesn’t end at 18 months though. We’ll provide ongoing technical and professional training and assign you a performance development adviser.

Rewards
We offer competitive rewards, including a company pension, an innovative flexible benefits scheme, 24 days holiday (with the option to buy or sell up to 5 further days) and much more. Apart from the tangible rewards expected from one of the biggest consultancies of its kind, you’ll enjoy a working culture that recognises talent and is committed to your continued development.
