Actuarial Trainee
The Job
The work of actuaries is vital to the health of pension schemes. Actuaries are heavily involved in designing and advising company pension schemes, especially where a value needs to be placed on a scheme’s accumulated pension promises. This could be for a formal valuation of a whole scheme, or of one person’s benefits.
As actuaries gain experience, they spend less of their time working on the strictly technical aspects, instead applying their expertise to more general areas, whether it’s managing a business, advising a client or handling a project.
As well as 'on the job' learning opportunities, we strive to ensure that you will develop the skills that will allow you to become part of our next generation of Consulting Actuaries.
The Person
The minimum academic requirements are a 2:1 Honours Degree in a numeric discipline, coupled with strong 'A' Level or 'Higher' results, including a Grade A in mathematics.
While many trainees join with mathematical or statistical based backgrounds, recent recruits have had degrees in subjects as diverse as aeronautical engineering and physics.
