Some straight talking about opportunities in actuarial
At KPMG, the people make the place. And what’s that place like? It’s one where everyone feels valued and hard work is recognised and rewarded. It’s also a place that’s growing. Since a number of European firms merged to form KPMG Europe LLP, we have become the largest fully-integrated accountancy firm in Europe.
KPMG offers audit, tax and consulting services to everyone from oil companies to music gurus. But it’s not just what we do that’s important. It’s the way that we do it. Our values don’t just live on a wall. They’re a way of life, underpinning the way we work with clients and with each other.
So what can you look forward to at KPMG? Exposure to big name clients from day one. Working on challenging projects. And a fantastic support network that includes a mentor and generous study leave.
Our actuarial team provides advice to the insurance industry, helping organisations manage financial risk. The work involves using detailed analysis of past events to create accurate models of the future and advising on their financial implications.
There are two different areas within actuarial. Firstly, there’s Life Assurance, where you’ll develop a wide range of skills as you advise on such things as practical business problems, strategic planning and individual financial projections. This will involve working with a diverse variety of clients including life assurance companies, retail and investment banks, venture capital firms and industry regulators. In General Insurance, we work on a wide range of different business and personal risks, from standard car and house insurance to more exotic insurance covering satellites, oil rigs and hurricane losses.
From day one, you’ll be on a structured path towards gaining a professional qualification. You’ll be expected to study towards the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ examinations.
